Snowy River Golf Classic
Orbost Golf Club is proud host to one of East Gippsland’s premier tournaments, the “Snowy River Golf Classic”, which has been held for more than twenty fiive years. The 2026 Classic will be held from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th January, being a 36 Hole Stableford competition over Saturday and Sunday, with the winner having the best aggregate score for the two days. The Friday nine hole event is becoming more popular each year. With the support of local businesses, the club is able to offer a wide range of trophies for the many events included over the weekend. This Golf Club again hosted the “Orbost Club Hotel Golf Classic” over two days on Saturday 1st November and Sunday 2nd November. Saturday was an Individual stableford event over 18 holes, and Sunday a 2 person Ambrose event. Both days provided trophies for A & grades winners and runners up (ladies & mens). Plus NTP’s & novelty events (longest drive, straightest drive etc.) A BBQ was operating both days and there was a major prize for a hole-in-one.
Orbost Golf club, in conjunction with Lakes Entrance G C, Bairnsdale G C and Golf East Gippsland, also have hosted the three day East Gippsland Golf Classic. There is a new format being considered and when finalised details will be available here.
Orbost also host a tournament, recently sponsored by the Marlo Hotel over a weekend in August, with some of the funds raised to support local COMMUNITY organizations. Details will be posted closer to this event.
